Throughout my entire life, I’ve never felt confident about my body. While this is a common issue amongst women, I find myself feeling guilty when, by society, I’m considered a ‘skinny’ person. Yes, it’s true that I do wear XS in tops and a size 0 in jeans, but a lot of my confidence isn’t from the number of my size, but rather the way my body looks. Am I petite? Yes. Is my body fit to walk down a Victoria Secret show? Absolutely not. To me, my body has always looked mediocre, and it’s not something I would flaunt during bikini season.
When given the opportunity to work with Cru Day Spa, I was curious about their sculpting treatments and what makes the service one-of-a-kind. Based on their site information, it is a treatment that “stimulates muscles, breaks down cellulite and fatty deposits, eliminates toxins, improves lymphatic drainage and takes inches off. [It] helps restore the skin’s decreases in muscle tension.” I decided to get my first coolsculpting treatment with them to see if it would have any affect on my body and give lasting results. Please keep in mind though, I did not do the procedure for weight loss purposes. If you are considering in doing this treatment but you are unsure, I encourage you to check with a doctor – I just want to provide my personal experience!
When I first entered the spa, the front desk ladies greeted me as I checked-in. The area was very clean and minimalistic, and I was confirmed for doing my sculpting treatment. As one of them escorted me to the waiting area to fill out paperwork, I was contemplating on choosing either my stomach or the back side of my thighs for treatment. The lady was very helpful in answering my questions and sharing details about what to expect with coolsculpting. After I finished my paperwork, I got dressed in the most comfiest robe and slippers! I was ready to start my spa session!
When I entered inside the room, it was a very dim and tranquil ambiance. The aesthetician made me feel very calm and comfortable by giving me the space to lie down on the bed. When I was lying down, I was instantly at ease with the bed and room space! Once the aesthetician returned, I decided to go ahead and choose the coolsculpting treatment for my stomach area. The aesthetician began to apply gel in the stomach area to prepare for the suctioning.
Treatment Experience
During the session, I felt like the entire experience felt like a massage! The treatment, to me, felt like it was divided into 4 sections. For the first round, the suctioning brush was in a medium intensity and it gave a very light “cupping” effect to the stomach area. Because I have a high pain tolerance, I felt like the suctioning wasn’t painful at all. During the second round, the suctioning brush was used in a high intensity with light therapy included. While I did notice a difference in the suctioning effect being more intense, I still felt like I was in little to no pain. However, it did feel a little ticklish for me towards the end of the round.
Once the first half of the treatment was done, the aesthetician changed the suction brush with a prong/comb-like brush head. She also reapplied the gel onto my stomach. The third round incorporated using the a comb-like brush with a medium intensity in a circular motions around the entire stomach area. After experiencing the suctioning effect, I find the comb-like brush felt very soothing! I actually enjoyed the feeling of it, especially after the cupping from the previous two rounds.
My treatment is now complete! I noticed immediately after coolsculpting, my stomach already had lessened in appearance from bloating from above my belly button area. However, upon personal research, keep in mind that the actual results from coolsculpting actually show 1-2 weeks post treatment. What I loved about the treatment is that the entire session lasted half an hour! Even when I left the spa, I was comfortable going back home and resuming my regular schedule with no down time.
Post-treatment Experience
The same evening I did the coolsculpting treatment, I felt like my stomach was tight. I would describe the feeling of it similar to what it would be like if you had done 100 crunches in one sitting. Again, the feeling wasn’t painful, but I did feel sore. Before my session, I was informed by the staff of Cru Day Spa about that effect afterwards, and while I consented to continue doing the treatment, I didn’t realize how much it would also curb my appetite. While I returned to eating normally the next day, I was motivated to keep up with the effects of the treatment by exercising regularly the remainder of the week as well.
Final Verdict – Do I recommend it?
After 2 whole weeks since my coolsculpting treatment, I see a noticeable difference in the way my body looks today! I really like the full results since I believe my skin in the stomach area feels a lot firmer too. Although I wouldn’t say my body is skinnier or had given me 6 pack abs after one session, I believe it can give that effect after multiple sessions with regular exercise and a healthy diet. Because I didn’t have any negative effects from coolsculpting, I would definitely consider doing it again for special occasions – such as before a big trip or a wedding. The aesthetician said you can get coolsculpting every 72 hours – that means you can get this treatment twice a week if you wanted to! It really goes to show how non-invasive the treatment is. If you are from the Houston area, booking an appointment with Cru Day Spa is worth the investment!
