Hi, dear friends. Black Lives Matter, and I hope you already know that by the time you’re reading this. It’s been hard for me to form words that convey how much I am hurting right now for the Black community. While racial injustice has been fought for in the past, it is something that is still happening in our society – because prejudice is being protected and encouraged from state/federal laws. These laws were created many years ago, and they do not reflect how much we have transformed as a country today. As a person of color (that is not Black), I have had experienced my own personal hardships based from my race. I can only imagine what it’s like for the Black community to deal with discrimination, especially from law enforcement that racially profiles African-American people on a regular basis. Hearing my friend’s eye-opening stories were enough for me to know that our country can do better. If you’ve been deeply impacted from racial discrimination before, please know that you matter so much in this world. You are the reason why it was very important for me to support BLM on my blog.
To me, the best way to support is to express appreciation and love. My fashion posts have highlighted black-owned brands in the past, so I want to uniquely feature handmade jewelry and accessories. On Etsy, there are so many cute summer jewelry pieces that are from black-owned businesses, and each jewelry brand has their own distinct style and design. The best part is, so many of the selected pieces I’m featuring are statement pieces that can easily pair with this year’s summer fashion trends! Keep reading to learn more.
