The most exciting parts of the year are when I witness the change in season: flowers are starting to bloom, Daylight Savings Time takes place, and the weather is gradually becoming warmer each day. Working day in and day out has made me feel mundane about fashion lately, especially when all the holidays are over and the only thing to look forward is a summer vacay. So, in collaboration with Anne Boswell, style blogger of anneboswellfashion.com, I styled a spring look that is perfect for any city girl wanting to spread some vibrancy to their style! It can be tricky finding ways to incorporate color when transitioning wardrobe pieces out of winter season, so this outfit is a great example of how to play with color combinations, fabrics, and accessories!
For this Spring look, I wore a striped, crochet knitted top with wide sleeves. When I initially purchased it, it gave me a feminine, boho vibe that I instantly adored! This top is great for the summertime with some denim shorts and a pair of sandals, but I decided to wear this top as the focal piece for this urban outfit because of how it contrasted with dark pieces. I love how the bright orange and pink stripes make a bold statement to the Spring look, making the colors stand out most from any other details in the blouse. Also, the loose fit gives it a casual-feel that can be worn comfortably with a tank top underneath. All in all, the fabric and print of the top is what makes this outfit pairing striking and interesting! Click here or the widget below for some similar boho tops:
To create contrast in my Spring look, I wore some faux leather pants to reflect the edgy, city fashion style. I love the stretch of these pants because they are super comfortable and can be worn all day! Plus, the skinny fit makes the legs look leaner and taller as the sun reflects shine off the leather fabric! Wearing leather is one the of many ways you can play with different textures when styling a Spring outfit, and it’s subtle enough to not compete with bright colored clothing. Keeping my outfit pieces dark helps emphasize the vibrant colors of the striped top. You can shop the black faux leather leggings listed below:
For the shoes, I decided to make the bottom portion of the outfit very urban and opted for a knee-high black boot. You may have seen these shoes in my recent fashion posts, but I can’t help but reiterate how practical a classic pair of boots can be! The sleek fit of these boots really ties into the skinny fit of the pants, making the legs look elongated as you strut your stuff in the city! Although it may not be the best shoe choice for warmer spring fashion, don’t be afraid to mix your winter boot collection with colorful spring outfits! These boots and the ones listed below are similar to mine:
Lastly, I wore this delicate choker piece from Ettika! I felt like the choker helped elevate the vibrancy and boho vibes of this outfit! The long strand of tassel also subtly breaks up the wide stripes of the crochet top, preventing the body frame to not appear wider than your natural body type. This choker, called Roaming Roads, has such quality and design that’s versatile for many fashion looks. You can purchase one here and receive 15% off using my code “@ressamazing.” With a necklace to finish off the look, this outfit is complete! Don’t forget to bring a trench coat if you need extra warmth and layers for the weather!
Hope you enjoyed my first Spring look this season! This outfit makes me incredibly excited for crochet, knitted pieces and fun, bold prints!
