October is here, so it’s time to celebrate Halloween! Being labeled as the “DIY Queen of Halloween” from my friends for many years gives you a little indication of just how much I absolutely adore this holiday. The idea of transforming into someone else once a year makes me try to find new creative ways to DIY iconic costumes on a budget (if you want to see my Halloween costume last year, click this). Since I want to challenge myself in outdoing last year’s costume, I knew I had to start a Halloween costume series this year, and what better way to celebrate early than by exploring the Big Apple: New York City.If you ever watched Gossip Girl, then you’ll completely understand why I chose to run around looking like a wannabe Blair Waldorf in NYC. To keep it short, the show consists of the best fashion outfits to have ever graced television, the most iconic scenes are taken at the most popular areas of the city, and anyone would wish to live the luxurious life of an Upper East Sider. When the television series was running, I remembered drooling over Blair and Serena’s wardrobe each episode + wishing I would find a guy like Dan Humphrey. As I was recreating three different looks, I was surprised to find out how easy it was to style Gossip Girl-like outfits. Keep reading on to find out just how easy it is to achieve a stylish Gossip Girl Halloween costume.
Look #1: Blair’s Party Outfit
When you first met Blair, she was cheery in her all black lace party outfit…at least before she knew Serena would be back in the city. I love how effortless this outfit is, and it’s one of the most popular looks in Gossip Girl. Although I did not own a black lace dress, I easily recreated this look with a black lace button down blouse and matching skirt! For the headband, I decided to tweak it by wearing a bow collar instead. Although it’s not an exact look, the pieces work together to form the desired style of Blair. The trick is to style pieces that look super flowy and elegant in order to achieve creating this party outfit. Easily finish off the look with black fishnets, black pumps, and a clutch. Below, I found affordable pieces to recreate your own Blair Waldorf costume:

Floral sleeve dress: Shein
Black clutch: Pistil All Mine
Bow Headband: Zulily
Black Pumps: Forever 21

Look #2: Serena van der Woodsen’s Red Dress
Wanna be the Blair to my Serena? I loved creating this Gossip Girl costume because this look was featured in my favorite episode of the show! Serena and Blair’s friendship is such a whirlwind of adventure, and who wouldn’t want to recreate these dresses? This costume is another easy look to style because of how accessible these pieces are to purchase. Luckily, I already owned a long sleeve red dress and a thick polka dot headband for this look. For accessories, you can replicate Serena’s style (better than me) by pairing the dress with gold pumps and a red clutch. If you can find a “Blair” who has a matching blue dress, you are both ready to paint the town red as you shoot around Central Park!

Look #3: Blair Waldorf’s School Uniform
If you want to recreate this iconic “school-girl” look, look no further! This was by far my favorite Gossip Girl costume that I styled because it felt surreal dressing like Blair while walking around The Met. Plus, all the pieces worn for this look were already from my own closet! To achieve this costume, pair a ruffled white button down top with a black bow collar around the neck. With a black blazer and matching mini pleated skirt, you’ll look like a true Upper East Sider! To look exactly like Blair Waldorf, complete this costume with a yellow headband, black flats, and a black satchel bag!

Yellow Headband: New York & Co.
