It’s been a hot minute since my last shoot with Irene (AKA @vi_serenee from Instagram)- Houston’s portrait photographer extraordinaire! So, we decided to collaborate on a Fall shoot with a dreamy scenery in nature. Irene really took this shoot to a whole new level when I met up with her at a suburb park. I instantly felt inspired by the yellow flower fields, the tall trees, the beautiful dock that made me feel like I was in a Nick Sparks movie, and how Irene brought these images to life. You can see more of my friend’s work here. Without further ado, read on about my classic, go-to fall look:
Every time the year reaches November, I get really excited when I start wearing my sweater dresses! This sweater dress, that I purchased last year in Gap, is super soft, lightweight, and has a slightly loose fit that is comfortable enough to throw on for any last minute event. Plus, this solid, heather grey dress has a classic design that can easily be dressed up or down. I really admire how the length of this dress is knee length, which is more suitable for me versus the super short, tight body con sweater dresses in most retail stores. I’m really happy that I have found a sweater dress that is classic, versatile, and super comfortable to wear this season. Gap has this sweater dress available in different colors here.
For this look, I kept it simple with a printed scarf. I am all about wearing scarves during the fall/winter season! Not only does the scarf serve a purpose in keeping your neck warm, but it effortlessly creates another layer to your wardrobe. I personally love the hue of this blue shade since it really compliments my skin tone and beautifully sticks out from the outdoor scenery. The scarf was given to me as a birthday gift many years ago from Charlotte Russe, but you can purchase a similar scarf in Target on clearance for under $10 here.
Lastly, I would rarely feature a fall look without my coveted ankle booties! I love the chocolate brown color of these booties, because it’s a great way to play up with neutral hues. Although I love a good heel, I love my flat ankle booties because it’s more opted in the sunny, fall weather in Texas. Plus, they were perfect for frolicking in the fields during the shoot! These booties were given to me as a hand-me-down from a college roommate, but you can find faux leather brown ankle booties in any shoe store this season. An ankle bootie that I’ve personally been eyeing can be found here.
When it comes to mixing and matching clothing, Fall is the best season for experimenting with wardrobe pieces in creating a look that’s right for you. No matter how you spend your time throughout the month, you can achieve a Fall look with simple, effortless clothing items.
