Fringe in Attitude- A Fall Urban Look

With the fall season kicking off, I can’t help but notice the hustle and bustle of the city. It’s the time of year when everyone prepares for the holidays, and like fringe, we are all hanging in there while constantly moving along. For this fall look, I wanted to create an urban, edgy look that is perfect for the city girls who are always on the go. It’s the perfect outfit to shake off the workload as you strut!
For this post, I had the pleasure to collaborate with Ahmad Sweeney, a local Houston photographer that specializes in portrait, fashion, and commercial imagery. It’s amazing to experience his craft in photography unfold as we came up with spur-of-the-moment shoot ideas while exploring around downtown. At one point in our shoot, Ahmad was photographing me while a homeless man came up to him and said, “Hey! Take my photo! I wanna be famous, too!” I think that moment speaks volumes with how well he photographs and treats his clients. All in all, the shoot felt really authentic to my vision for this look. For my outfit, I was excited to finally wear some knee high boots! These boots and I go way back from my college years when I was looking for a black pair of boots for a Halloween costume. I purchased these classic boots from a thrift shop, but because of the amazing leather quality, I kept wearing them year after year. Although velvet boots are trending this season, I don’t think there will ever be a fall season where black leather knee high boots aren’t in style. If you are looking to find classic pieces for your fall wardrobe, I highly recommend investing in black knee high boots. You can purchase a similar pair for under $50 here.

For my skirt, I recently purchase this gorgeous studded beige skirt from a local vintage shop in Houston a few months ago, and I have been wearing it ever since! I love the firework studded design on the skirt. It looks subtly festive for the holiday season but can also be worn all year long. The skirt hits right above the knee, which is great for pairing with boots and tights during the colder weather. What I adore about this piece is that it creates an edgy look while looking sophisticated. Although this piece is not available in retail stores, I think this skirt would also look amazing for this outfit.

My shirt is a black long sleeve crop top from Kohl’s that I purchased a few years ago. Because my torso is short, the crop top perfectly fits me right at waist length. It’s a great classic top, especially with the scoop neckline and soft fabric, because it can easily be paired effortlessly with layers. Forever 21 has a great selection of basics that are affordable, and you can purchase a black long sleeve crop top here.

Lastly, I chose to wear a fringe jacket as the statement piece for this entire look! I mean, who doesn’t love one for the fall season? It took me years to invest in a fringe jacket because I was very particular with the jacket structure and fringe design. I came across this jacket while I was shopping in Honolulu earlier this year, and I knew I had to purchase it for this upcoming fall season. I really like how the fringes drape all over the jacket, which really creates that “swoosh” effect every time you walk. Also, because I wanted to purchase a fringe jacket that can be an outerwear statement piece in my wardrobe, I liked how the length of this jacket is at hip length. It amazes me how many fringe jackets are crop top or waist length! You can expect to see me wearing this jacket all throughout this season. Purchase this exact jacket at H&M here.
