When I traveled to San Antonio, I was reacquainted by the beauty of the city. The aged architecture and rich Hispanic art culture are what makes it unique from the rest of Texas! The striking colors and intricate details of the places I’ve seen during my trip inspired me to make another “How to Dress” series on some of the common trends and styles I’ve seen. Any of the pieces I post are available online when you click on the widget, so feel free to shop too! Whether you live in San Antonio or you’re visiting for the first time, I hope my fashion picks make you feel right at home in the city.
TRENDY SUNGLASSES
No matter where I was in San Antonio, I was admiring at least one pair of sunnies someone else was wearing! If your schedule consists of a lot of outdoor activities, consider bringing a pair of sunglasses with you. Classic designs and bright pops of color can make your outfit really stand out when you’re sightseeing. Lately, I really adore gold and pink sunnies and cat-eye designs. Trendy sunglasses can also be a great conversation starter if you are traveling alone. Just make sure you are protecting your eyes with a pair that has UV Protection!
FLORAL PRINTS
Floral prints may not necessarily be a distinguishable trend known in San Antonio, but the street artwork and beautiful greenery have made me opt for prints with floral details. Because floral prints have multiple colors, you can easily style it with basics or wear it with bright colors. If prints are intimidating to wear, consider wearing accessories or small sized prints with neutral colored floral details. Pieces like a floral dress or a long, floral skirt can create a romantic, feminine look that is perfect for brunch or a date night at the San Antonio River Walk.
FLATS/LOW-HEEL FOOTWEAR
It’s not that you can’t wear stilettos in San Antonio, it’s just that not a lot people would suggest it. Many of the smaller streets and little walkway bridges are made of cobblestone or brick, so comfort is key when you’re exploring this city. In fact, many of the landmarks and tourist spots are close by with few parking options, so you’re constantly walking around all day. Chunky heeled booties are quite popular in San Antonio during this time of year, as well as flat sandals during the summer season.
MISMATCHED, BRIGHT COLORS
I can’t say this for most cities I’ve traveled to, but I think you can pull off wearing a bubblegum pink top with bright orange pants any time of the year in San Antonio. Wearing bright, mismatch-y color combos are inspired by the Spanish flair and strong art culture of the city, so you would actually blend right in with the dozens of street artwork displayed around San Antonio. In fact, wearing more colorful pieces was something I wish I could have packed more of from my trip. This city welcomes color with open arms, so feel free to experiment with your outfits in San Antonio!
