If you personally know me, you’d be surprised why I would desire staying at a resort. After travel blogging for 3 years, I always enjoyed going outside the box to meet locals and see fun places on my own. In fact, when I first thought of the word “resort,” I would imagine myself feeling miserable in a cookie-cutter place amongst a huge crowd of families with small children who are rowdy over breakfast. That stereotype didn’t exactly align with the ideals of what my definition of a perfect vacation is. However, staying at The Woodlands Resort was a completely different experience.
When you drive up north from Downtown Houston in as little as 30 minutes, you’ll find the most tranquil resort in the middle of a forest that stretches 28000 acres long. With activities that include biking, outdoor tennis, golf, and floating in a lazy river, you can truly feel the presence of nature inside this enchanting, modern property. As I get into more details about my stay, just know, The Woodlands Resort is anything but cookie-cutter.
LOBBY AREA/CHECK-IN
I barely lifted a thing once I stepped out of my car since the valet service helped my bags, opened my doors, and greeted me with the warmest smiles. When you step inside the entrance of the resort, you can’t help but be in awe of the place – both with the service and interior design of the lobby. I adored the grandiose staircase, sky-high wooden ceilings, and the huge cylinder lighting fixture that’s right in the middle of the whole room. The open glass windows around the resort really made the sleek marbled flooring and decor look so illuminating during a Friday afternoon.
RESORT ROOM
Right after I checked in, I got a complimentary golf cart ride to my hotel building and headed straight to my room. I enjoyed the majority of my day lounging in my bed, surfing the web, and pampering myself before heading to my cabana. Who wouldn’t want to enjoy the spacious room and contemporary look of the place? The entire room had a modern, chic look.
LUXURY CABANA TIME
Spending the rest of my afternoon at the cabana was the highlight of my day! The cabana was a private area located right by the lazy river. It included Cable TV, small fridge with Fiji water, ceiling fan, free Wi-Fi, and an amazing fruit medley dish! For drinks, I ordered the Sparkling Spiked Lemonade at the Cool Water Cafe! I had a lot of fun just soaking up the sun during the afternoon and having dinner during the evening watching TV.
If you are traveling here with a group, I highly recommend booking a luxury cabana during your stay! It made my waterpark experience truly remarkable.
LOUNGE AREA
The following day, I took a long walk around the lake and chilled around the couch areas. Despite the hundreds of resort guests staying here, I was still able to have a quiet and peaceful morning. During the evenings, they also have bonfire areas around the lake for s’mores!
SPORT ACTIVITIES
Soon afterwards, I got time to check out all the sport activities held in the resort. The resort offers huge golf courses, tennis courts, bike trails, paddle-boarding, kayaking, and lots of jogging trails. Trust me when I say that there’s so much to do!
FOOD AND DINING OPTIONS
For meals, you have plenty of dining options to choose from inside the resort. The Aviator’s Landing is a private club lounge in the resort that is held in the top floor of the room building. If you get access to the Aviator’s Landing, there’s a wonderful breakfast buffet, snacks, and desserts throughout the day.
For lunch, I was able to dine at The Bistro where they had a great array of cuisine options. I was able to try out their Ancient Grain Bowl, and I loved the array of vegetables and tofu in it! It was definitely the perfect place to enjoy a meal + get perfect views of the lakeside.
If you want to dine at a fancy dinner while you’re here, you should try the award-winning Robard’s Steakhouse! They have the perfect ambiance for a luxurious meal. I recommend trying out their scallops, crab claws, 6 oz fillet medallion steak, and truffle pasta! However, you can view more of their menu items here.
For a more laidback atmosphere, you can swing by the Cool Water Cafe for more tropical drinks and tasty casual food meals by the pool!
OVERALL THOUGHTS
With the busy itinerary I had, I was really impressed with the service at The Woodlands Resort. The staff never failed to answer my questions and made sure I was comfortable throughout my entire stay. The little things, such as opening my door, offering to give me complimentary golf cart rides for transportation, and calling me by my first name were details that weren’t overlooked. Because this resort tends to so many activities and amenities, the staff’s service and character were really what enhanced my resort experience.
Being a young adult female traveler, I found this resort to be worth my while! While families and pets are also welcomed to stay, I find that there is enough amenities at the Woodlands Resort for anyone to enjoy. Comment below what you think about my stay!
