I was invited to the FOMO Factory and Seismique to experience for free. All opinions are my own.
In a city where art exists, there are endless amounts of creative art room installments and interactive museums that are worldly known in Houston – and I am not surprised. Houston has one of the longest running art scenes in Texas, and I’m happy to let you know all of fabulous options to choose from. Plus, they all have unique “picture-worthy” photo opportunities. Throughout the years, I’ve been lucky to share interactive Houston local art on my Instagram. Now, I’m happy to share with you all the exclusive details, pros and cons, and pricing for each art museum/room installments that I’ve visited. If you want to learn more, continue to read below!
The FOMO Factory vs. Color Factory vs. Seismique – Which one is better?
…there are endless amounts of creative art room installments and interactive museums that are worldly known in Houston – and I am not surprised.
The FOMO Factory
Location: 5085 Westheimer Rd Suite 4710, Houston, TX 77056
Price: Regular Admission ($25) | Kids ($20)
I have a personal attachment with The FOMO Factory, only because they were the first art installment spot I’ve visited in Houston. Regardless, I find the concept and creativity behind The FOMO Factory to truly be imaginative. If you are a fan of anything and everything related to the best nostalgic days of your childhood, you’ll be able to relive those fun experiences again here! Located on the third floor of the Houston Galleria Mall, you will experience a fun-filled day of taking photos inside a different aspect of your childhood days – think of playing with Carebears, old cassette tapes, sand castles, or camping gear! Each room you visit will incorporate fun parts of being a kid – which any person at any age would enjoy. My personal favorite rooms are the music room and flower swing room! The regular admission will give you a self-guided tour, and trust me, you will want to take your time when you visit! You can bring your own photography equipment with no additional expense or even book a package where you can have your own personal photographer with you when you take photos! The FOMO Factory is great pricing-wise, and after your visit, you can also enjoy shopping at the Galleria afterwards. Win-win!
Color Factory Houston
Location: 3303 Kirby Dr, Houston, TX 77098
Price: Adult ($35) | Kids ($28)
If you are a person with a colorful personality, then I say the Color Factory is the place for you! I knew I had to visit the Color Factory after seeing the beautiful installments that were originally based in New York. However, what I liked most about the Houston location is that all the art installments were created by local Houston artists – and your ticket will go towards supporting their work. I love that every entrance has fun sensory activities where you can play with colorful themed confetti, lights, art, balloons, and more. I personally loved the confetti room and the mini ball-pit! A fun bonus is that every admission also receives free sweet treats as you go throughout the museum – and my personal favorite is the mini black charcoal ice cream at the very end. The only cons I would say about the visit was that you can’t go back to previous parts of the museum. Also, if you want to do outfit changes, restrooms aren’t easily accessible between each installment. However, I did have an overall wonderful time visiting and would definitely come back again!
Seismique
Location: 2306 S Texas 6, Houston, TX 77077
Price: Adult ($35) | Kids ($28)
There are so many great things to say about Seismique! First, they are actually a permanent interactive art museum in Houston, so you can come here at any time of the year! Secondly, I personally appreciate the huge amount of free, easy parking that’s available. Seismique truly stands out from the pack by the crazy immersive artwork and its technological components in each room. My personal favorite parts of the museum are the light globe room and the rain room! This interactive art museum really plays into augmented reality and it truly feels as if you’re entering inside a different world. Another thing I really enjoyed about Seismique is that all the art installments were created by Houston artists – and it’s so important to support local art! You can easily come in and out of each room, and there is a fun cafe to eat in before or after your visit! Although Seismique is relatively new, I think they will definitely gain more popularly in the years to come. If you want to check out more of the art installments, I did remember that they encouraged everyone to check out their free app to track all the installments during their visits. While I think it’s a great idea planning-wise, I simply did my self-guided tour blindly and still had a great time.
