I received free admission to the FOMO Factory (some photos included were from that event) – but there are no sponsorships for this blog post. All opinions are my own.
Houston, we have a new problem….there are too many beautiful places to take photos! I, myself, believe that Houston has been changing rapidly every year. The unique art displays, murals, and interaction installations are quote impossible to keep up with! In fact, when I was traveling every month (before quarantine life), I always told my friends that returning home felt like “a brand new city.” And, it’s arguably true. Houston keeps growing!
No matter where I travel, I noticed that my most liked Instagram photos have always been spots from my home city. I truly believe that our art scene is one of the best, and I love supporting local artists on my Instagram! Because it’s been a while since I shared some fun, photography spots on my blog, I’ll be sharing with you the most photogenic spots that are photo-friendly, exclusive to Houston, and worth your time to visit!
The Most Photogenic Spots in Houston
Color Factory
3303 Kirby Dr, Houston, TX 77098
Are you a color enthusiast? You’ll love the bright, bold color schemes in Color Factory Houston! While they consider themselves an interactive art exhibit, I feel like every single room inside the factory has it’s own flair of color. In fact, each and every single room was designed from a local artist in Houston, so no rooms are the exact same when visiting other Color Factory locations. I felt like this installation really incorporated all my senses – touch, hear, see, smell….and taste! I personally enjoyed all the fun sweet treats in every midpoint of the Color Factory. While I do recommend content creators to check out this place because it’s incredibly Instagram-worthy, I think all families, kids, and teens would have fun here, too!
Houston Graffiti Building
1503 Chartres St, Houston, TX 77003
If you are into murals and street art, then Downtown Houston area has an amazing spot where you can take multiple photos with murals all in one spot! The Houston Graffiti Building has been a hot spot for photoshoots for many years, and I personally discover new and upcoming artists when I visit. All the murals are held outdoors, so weather should be taken into consideration. However, parking is free and the place has always been safe for me to roam around during the day. This place has some of the best murals in the city, and each year, this is the go-to place to visit during the HUE Festival. All in all, I think that the Houston Graffiti Building is a great spot for those who want to take photos for free.
FOMO Factory
5085 Westheimer Rd Suite 4710, Houston, TX 77056
The FOMO Factory truly caters to the adults who are young at heart! The interactive art installation room company is located in the third level of the Galleria Mall – so you can be assured that the area is family-friendly with lots of security. While the FOMO Factory is also bright and colorful, I also appreciate how each room pays homage to fun childhood toys, foods, and activities (think floral swings and a Carebear toy room)! I find that the staff here is incredibly sweet and friendly, and I had endless amounts of fun. If you ever want them to host a private event, you can easily book an appointment reservation with them on their site.
Smither Park
2441 Munger Street Houston, TX 77023
This place is one of my favorite photo spots in Houston! Not only is Smither Park free to visit, but is truly a magical, mosaic-covered wonderland! Imagine every corner and spot inside the park being shiny, vibrant, and an imaginative park. The minute I learned this place existed, I knew I had to visit myself! If you check this place out, please be aware that the park is located inside a neighborhood, so please be respectful with noise levels. I personally love the outdoor public space – because in certain times of the day, the mosaic tiles look so shimmering against the sunlight. This is definitely a must-see place if you’re first visiting Houston and want unique tourist photos!
