8 years ago, I remembered moving to Dallas straight out of high school to begin my life as an adult. The city felt exciting to me as I discovered many first’s. It was the first place where I lived on my own, created a sisterhood from scratch, experienced 2 week snow storms (which is nonexistent in Houston), and felt like a true musician. You can learn more about me here.
The fact that I have such a deep connection with this city prior to my blog has made me taken a few steps back to redirect my feelings about Dallas as a tourist. It helps that the way Downtown Dallas looks, since I last visited 4 years ago, has drastically changed as well. The old, bitter struggles I once had when eagerly leaving this city after college graduation got me to eat my words when I stayed in Dallas in the most chic way. Read below my personal recommendations about where to visit!
The Best Way to Spend a Weekend in Dallas
Where to Stay: Stay Alfred Jackson Street Property
Address: 1919 Jackson Street Dallas, TX 75201
While there are so many hotels in Dallas to choose from, I was able to partner with Stay Alfred and experience their high-end travel apartment in Jackson Street! Trust me when I say that the visit made my trip a hundred times more special!
What made me fell in love with Stay Alfred’s Dallas property was the huge amount of space at the 2 bed/2 bath room! The travel apartment includes a living area with a dining table, open kitchen, and office space. Each bedroom has its own closet and bathroom inside! The property uniquely has a food delivery service from the neighboring restaurants, so you can order food and have it delivered to your travel apartment. I felt extremely safe staying at the property since there’s a 24/7 front desk staff, and if you need assistance, there’s also a Stay Alfred office located at the first floor.
After staying in a variety of Stay Alfred apartments across the US, I can honestly say that every stay is a different experience! I love the modern-style amenities my travel apartment provided, and the entire building is decorated in lavish retro designs that made me wish I could stay here forever. The feeling that does stay the same when I do choose Stay Alfred is pure bliss! I always know that I can work, explore, and relax in its space as if I’m right at home.
Where to Eat for Breakfast
Overeasy: 1914 Commerce St, Dallas, TX 75201
Need a light breakfast and some coffee? Overeasy, located inside The Statler Hotel, is the perfect spot to enjoy your early mornings. The laid back ambiance and retro kitchen vibes makes the dining experience fun and easygoing. My recommendation? Try The Easy Living ($12) and a cup of mocha ($4.50) for a breakfast meal! The dish really hit the spot and would energize you for the full day ahead.
To get to the restaurant, I would suggest parking at the Elm Parking Garage (2000 Elm St, Dallas, TX 75201). Most days, the cost of parking is less than $10. You can also take valet in front of The Statler Hotel. When entering inside the hotel, Overeasy is located at the right side of the lobby area. You won’t miss it when you see the bright neon blue sign! P.S. If you enter from the back side, they also have an amazing mural!
Where to Eat for Brunch
Stephan Pyles Flora Street Café: 2330 Flora St Suite 150, Dallas, TX 75201
Are you a brunch type of person? Head over to Stephan Pyles Flora Street Café! This lavish café, located in the heart of the Arts District, has a unique way of blending art and food in a captivating way. When I first entered, I felt welcomed by the stylish ambiance and contemporary decor. The staff was overall friendly and helpful to me and my guest every time we needed assistance. One memorable moment was how insightful my server was when I was deciding on a cocktail to drink- he sold me in trying out the Flora cocktail!
Shortly after, each dish was seamlessly presented to us one after the other. I was so impressed with the artistry of each dish and drink! The Texas Cuisine menu incorporates Southwestern ingredients and flavors with a culinary flair. I can tell that every detail of my meal was intentional and creative. Where to Eat for Dinner
Stampede 66: 777 Watters Creek Blvd #2, Allen, TX 75013
If you enjoyed Flora Street Cafe, you should considering take a short dive to another one of Stephan Pyles’ restaurant, Stampede 66! They recently relocated inside the new Delta Hotel by the Watters Creek town shopping center. If you want to get an authentic taste of the Southwest, this Texas Cuisine restaurant is all about fusing the best ingredients of what this state has to offer. When speaking with the manager, he described how each food represented Stephan Pyles’ life story and love for Texas.
When I arrived during the evening, the restaurant had a dark-lit, romantic ambiance as I first entered inside. The servers and staff handled my visit in a personable and kindhearted manner throughout my dinner as I was intrigued with their new menu! My friend and I tried out their fruity drinks and we began with shrimp taquitos. The flavoring of both paired very nicely together as we awaited for our main dishes. When the plates arrived, I tried the best Sea Bass dish of my entire life as my friend ordered the Cowboy Bone-in Ribeye. We finished of our meals with trying the Peach Cobbler and Pecan Pie. Learn more about their dishes here.
