1. Use a primer.
This is my secret weapon when it comes to having long lasting makeup! I absolutely love MAC’s Prep+Prime Skin Base because it’s in all-in-one product: it acts like a moisturizer, primes the skin, and helps even out coloration and acne texture. Applying a makeup primer/base makes such a huge difference in the way your makeup looks because the skin has a “smooth canvas” for any additional face makeup, such as foundation, blush, highlight, etc. The MAC product retails over $30, but the quality of the primer base is worth every penny for me. I like this product in particular because the product doesn’t create an ashy complexion on me like most primers do. It really shows my skin off at it’s best.
2. Glam up the lashes.
I personally do not normally wear lashes on a daily basis, so whenever I attend a concert, I make sure I play up my eyes! To give my eyes a boost, I wear the 102 Black Ardell Glam Lashes because I love the shape. The sparse, bold lashes from the falsies give an effect of rounder, almond shaped eyes. For one minute, I apply my lashes with tweezers and gently press them right above my eyelids using my fingers. After applying lashes, I notice how natural they look and how easily it makes my eye makeup stand out. In general, I have been using Ardell’s lashes for years because of it’s affordability, variety in lash shapes, and quality.
3. Wear a colored lip.
I really enjoy experimenting with bold lip colors when it comes to attending music shows and concerts. Personally, I think any woman can pull off wearing a classic red lip. Although there are so many shades of red to choose from, my all-time favorite red lipstick is from a Korean beauty brand called The Face Shop. It’s from the dark label lipstick collection in #10 Fashion Red. The formulation of this lipstick is unreal: super buttery, has the perfect amount of shine, and I love how it’s a dark, cool tone shade (makes your teeth look super white). When I apply this lipstick over a lip liner, the lipstick lasts all night for me without creases or feathering.
4. Keep your skin glowy.
Aside from face makeup, my trick to having glowy skin is using Sally Hansen’s Airbrush Legs Spray. Since I went to a Beyonce concert, you know I just had to make my legs look #flawless. I have used this product years ago when I used to perform local gigs in college, but now, I use it whenever I show off my legs. This spray helps cover my varicose veins and uneven skin complexion. Plus it’s also water and transfer resistant- perfect for dancing the night away! I would suggest applying the spray directly to the leg, then wear plastic gloves to smooth out the product with your hands. This method helps create even complexion. For reference, I switch shades between Medium Glow and Tan Glow (depending on season).
5. Wear a matte foundation.
I think it’s so important to know your skin type- whether it’s dry, oily, sensitive, or a combination of it all. Personally, my skin tends to look greasy after a few hours unless I wear a foundation catered to oily skin. My absolute favorite foundation is the L’Oreal Pro-Matte Foundation. For a flawless complexion, I first apply the foundation with a foundation brush. Then, I dab it in with a makeup blending sponge. Every time I apply my foundation with this technique, I always get compliments for my skin! Plus, this is the only drugstore foundation that still makes my face look luminous and matte by the end of the night.
6. Use a finishing spray.
A finishing spray always comes in handy for music concerts! It helps keep my makeup in place by preventing melting and smearing. One finishing spray I constantly use whenever I go out is the Urban Decay All Nighter Setting Spray. This finishing spray is such a hit ever since it released because it helps makeup last up to 16 hours. Even after dancing to Beyonce for four hours straight, my makeup still looked radiant. Although the product isn’t marketed this way, I believe it works incredibly well for oily/oily combination skin types. I only spray twice on my face: left and right side with an arm length distance. I personally think it’s the right amount of product to set your makeup.
Hope you enjoyed reading my top beauty products for attending music concerts! It’s always been a struggle to find makeup products that not only apply well, but are long-lasting.
