How to be Lane Kim for Halloween: Gilmore Girls Costume Idea

It is finally Fall season, and if don’t know me already, I am an avid fan for dressing up on Halloween! I remember the days when I would have three costumes for Halloween during college each year, and I would go allllll out. My dedication in making costumes out of stuff I already owned in my closet is what I admire looking back, since I was making pennies while studying full-time. Those were the days!

I didn’t watch TV a lot growing up, so I didn’t start watching Gilmore Girls until after college when I was working full-time. It didn’t take long for me to become obsessed with the show! So, when Silvia from Lovely Silvia and I wanted to create a Halloween costume together,  we immediately clicked on recreating a Rory and Lane costume. If you love the show as much as us, then here is how I created my Lane costume:

CLOTHING

Depending on which season you want to dress up in, Lane’s style has transformed from tom boyish clothing to more bright colored, quirky pieces. Silvia and I decided on recreating outfits from this episode. So, I was able to already find a similar sweater, trench coat, and patterned scarf in my closet. Although my costume isn’t exact, it is a distinguishable style to Lane Kim’s. If you want to recreate it with the exact clothing pieces from the episode we’ve chosen, here is what I found online:

LUKE’S MUG

Honestly, I believe the number one thing that helps tie this costume together is our DIY Luke’s coffee mug. If you want to create it last minute, you can simply print out the Luke’s logo, cut it out, and tape it to a plain white coffee mug. If you want to go the extra mile, I’ve also found some Etsy mugs available online that are Gilmore Girl related:
