Very rarely will I ever take a spontaneous flight across the country, but this past Labor Day weekend, I knew I had to visit Minneapolis. From the beautiful lakes to the abundance amount of historical art and music, the city had always fascinated me while growing up in Texas. In most places, downtown is considered the “soul” of the city, and I wanted to stay in a hotel where I can be where everything happens. When AC Hotel Minneapolis Downtown opened their doors to me, I quickly learned one thing during my trip: it’s the only hotel where you can conveniently enjoy Minneapolis.
LOCATION
To reach the hotel, you can accessibly take the Light Rail transit to Minneapolis for a single fare of $2 from the Minneapolis–Saint Paul International Airport. I was able to get an airport map from the information desk to help navigate where the Light Rail transit was located. After your fare purchase, you’ll wait approximately 5-10 minutes for the train heading to Minneapolis. The ride is a 15 minute train ride to the Warehouse/ Hennepin Ave station. Once you arrive at the station, you’ll walk a short block along Hennepin Ave to the left of the station. You’ll reach AC Hotel Minneapolis Downtown on 4th Ave in no less than 3 minutes! For landmark references, the hotel is a block across the The Times They Are A-Changin’ mural.
LOBBY AREA
When I first entered inside AC Hotel Minneapolis Downtown, I couldn’t help but feel so chic as I was surrounded by the sleek, contemporary decor and design of the lobby area. The juxtaposition of downtown’s urban, industrial cityscape to the high-class beauty of the hotel can make anyone embrace the upscale, posh ambiance. I personally loved the marbled touches around the hotel and was immediately drawn to the artsy, abstract bookshelves in the lobby area. There’s more-than enough space for seating and lounging if you’re traveling with friends or family.
HOTEL ROOM
After the sweet welcome I received from the check-in counter, I took the elevators up to my hotel room. The hotel key is what gives you access to enter any floor of the hotel, so you would have to scan it before pressing your hotel room floor. I was so excited to finally see my room! The room layout has a high-class, minimalistic style that’s clean and cozy from the wooden flooring and wall bedding. Although the room is not eccentric in decor and color, the room still captivates the lavish ambiance of the hotel by it’s contemporary design. It truly felt like a second home to me as I was placing my belongings inside and relaxing (P.S. Thanks for the sweet note, AC Hotel Minneapolis Downtown!).
BATHROOM AREA
Now, I wouldn’t say this about most hotel rooms, but I think the bathroom area is astounding. I was so impressed with the huge sink counter space and the black marble tiling throughout the bathroom. The bathroom had a cohesive upscale style to it, even with the contrast from the wooden hotel room area. The rainfall head is a such a high-class touch to the shower area, that I wished I could bring it along with me to take home for my own bathroom! Overall, the bathroom area was absolutely spectacular.
BREAKFAST
Want a European inspired all-you-can-eat breakfast buffet? The AC Hotel Minneapolis Downtown will make the ‘most important meal of the day’ magical for you! Never in my life have I enjoyed my hotel breakfast more than this hotel- it has a beautiful selection of food options that are suitable for all dietary needs. My personal favorite breakfast choices are the quiche, croissants, and freshly sliced prosciutto. For drinks, I loved their espresso machine and juices! The only thing I regret is not having the chance try their tapas and cocktails during lunch/dinner time. Because if the breakfast is this good, no doubt will their tapas be amazing! If you’re a local or you’re visiting the city, I highly recommend dining at the AC Hotel Minneapolis Downtown. You can read more about their dining options here.
AMENITIES
Lastly, I couldn’t leave without getting to enjoy all the amenities of the hotel! The fitness center inside the hotel has a ton of equipment that can accommodate any fitness workout. Before bed, I enjoyed having quick treadmill sessions to de-stress. On my last morning of Minneapolis, I was able to be one of the first hotel guests to experience riding the AC bikes! It was such a treat, and the best part is that the bikes are complimentary to all hotel guests. For bike rides, the hotel accommodates guests with a bike lock, blanket, and water tumblr. Getting the chance to see downtown on Labor Day in such a peaceful, scenic way is a memory I’ll cherish most during my hotel stay.
Staying at AC Hotel Minneapolis Downtown truly made my time in Minneapolis worthwhile. Huge thank you to the lovely staff for making me feel so welcomed while I was in the city! If you enjoyed this review, please share this with your family and friends. Let me know in the comments about your favorite parts of my hotel stay- I’d love to know! Until next time!
